Running Notes Terms of Service

Effective date: July 21, 2026

Be kind, do not abuse the service, do not record people unlawfully, and do not put private information in the public guest mailbox. We will try to run Running Notes responsibly, but this is a small experimental service and it is provided without a service-level guarantee.

1. Acceptance

These Terms govern your use of Running Notes at notes.handsfree.vc. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What the Service does

Running Notes lets users authenticate, record and upload audio notes, receive those notes in a personal IMAP mailbox, and view mailbox messages through the web interface. Features may be experimental, incomplete, changed, or discontinued.

3. Accounts and security

You are responsible for activity under your account, for securing your identity-provider account and session, and for protecting generated IMAP credentials. Notify us at info@handsfree.vc if you believe your account or credentials have been compromised. You may not impersonate another person or attempt to access another user's mailbox or account.

4. Recordings, consent, and your content

You retain your rights in content you upload. You give us a limited permission to host, copy, process, transmit, and display that content solely as needed to operate and secure the Service.

You are responsible for your recordings and must have all permissions required to make and store them. Recording laws differ by location. Do not record another person without any consent or notice required by applicable law. Do not upload content that is unlawful, infringing, abusive, malicious, or that violates another person's privacy or rights.

5. Guest account warning

The guest account and its mailbox credentials are shared publicly. Guest recordings can be accessed by strangers. Do not use the guest account for personal, confidential, sensitive, regulated, or valuable information. Scheduled deletion, normally after 24 hours, is not a guarantee of immediate or irreversible deletion.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

7. Limits, suspension, and termination

We may impose upload, storage, rate, retention, and mailbox limits. We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security risk, legal obligations, excessive resource use, prolonged inactivity, or discontinuation of the Service. Where practical, we will act proportionately and provide notice. You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account deletion as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Third-party services

Google and Microsoft authentication, email clients, networks, and hosting providers are operated by others and governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, outages, or changes.

9. Availability and backups

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, and data preservation. Running Notes is not an archival or emergency service. Keep your own copies of important recordings and do not rely on the Service as the only copy.

10. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, recordings, profits, goodwill, or access arising from the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

11. Changes

We may modify these Terms when the Service or applicable requirements change. Revised Terms will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after the revised Terms take effect means you accept them. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will provide additional notice when reasonably practical.

12. General

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms do not create a partnership, employment, agency, or third-party beneficiary relationship. Applicable mandatory consumer and privacy laws remain unaffected.

13. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to info@handsfree.vc.
